This year, the Labour and Employment Year in Review seminars will be held in Edmonton, Calgary and Yellowknife, with the Yellowknife seminar also being broadcast via webinar for those in the North who are not able to attend in person. At these events, our Labour and Employment lawyers will present an informative summary of some of the most interesting and significant labour and employment cases and legislative developments from the past year, and will also provide practical advice on how changes to the law will affect the workplace in 2018.

This year's seminar will focus on a number of significant developments, including those relating to:

  • workplace harassment
  • the duty to accommodate
  • discipline and termination
  • restrictive covenants
  • privacy and workplace surveillance
  • bad faith conduct and moral damages
  • key legislative changes to Alberta’s workplace laws, including:
  • the Employment Standards Code

  • the Workers’ Compensation Act
  • case updates specific to the Northwest Territories and Nunavut
