Manager of Recreation and Youth Programs
The Hamlet of Fort Liard requires an innovative, progressive, and energetic individual for the position of Manager of Recreation and Youth programs. He/she will report directly to the Hamlet SAO and will plan, develop, administer, and co-ordinate a variety of programs. Administrative responsibilities will include applying for and managing funds and preparing the required reports, identifying program needs, and developing long range plans and strategies.
The successful candidate will have completed a 2-year University program or 2-year Recreation Leadership program and have experience in developing recreation programs in a Northern setting. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential and he/she must be committed to living a healthy life-style and being a positive role model for the young people of the community. Staff and volunteer training and supervision are important components of the position as well so it is essential that candidates have experience in human resources management and team-building. In addition, any or all of the following certificates would be beneficial: Coaching certification for a variety of sports, First Aid, CPR and AED certificates and a class 5 driver’s license.
Community facilities include a gymnasium, seasonal swimming pool, ice rink, Skateboard Park and outdoor playgrounds, recreation areas and childcare centre.
Fort Liard is a community with a population of 600 situated on the Liard River in the Southwest corner of the Northwest Territories. There is year round road access.
